We were just exhibiting at BookExpo America at the Javitz Center in New York. We talked to people about our book, “We Are Not the Enemy: Restoring Honor to U.S. Civil Service” and the responses we received were mixed.
Those who were current or former civil servants appreciated our efforts to change the conversation about civil servants in general and federal employees in particular. This also includes the family members of civil servants.
Those among the private sector and the young college students were much more difficult to convince. Many we spoke to seem to believe the negative news about federal employees. We heard grumblings of mistrust.
Mark, my co-author, and I know that this road is a difficult one, but we believe it to be worthwhile. As we have said many times, there are thousands of federal employees who work hard every day. Many many more than are talked about in the news and in Congress.
This is our commitment – to do our part to restore honor to U.S. civil service.
