Governor Chris Christie mentioned something interesting yesterday in his State of the State speech. (I get a kick out of this term! Who came up with this?) He mentioned reforming sick leave payouts to civil servants in NJ.
What do you think about this? As a retired federal employee, I did accumulate a few hours of sick leave which resulted in a nice benefit. Maybe instead of reducing the number of federal employees or making new employees pay more and more toward their retirement benefits, there could instead be a change to the existing unused sick leave benefit for the federal workforce.
What if, when you don’t use your sick leave during your federal service, it just goes away when you retire?
Just a thought…
