New Book Offers Strong Defenseof Importance of Federal Civil Service

Washington, D.C.– Two recently retired high-level federal managers, with over 65 years of experience between them, in a newly released book offer a strong defense of why federal government service is a worthwhile and vitally important career choice and what could be done to stop politicians from scapegoating federal workers.

The book is needed especially now, say the authors, when some politicians have intensified their attacks on federal workers. They say that the salvos lobbed at federal workers in 2013, largely due to political infighting — budget cuts, sequestration, pay freezes, and finally a government shutdown — tell us it is time to change the conversation about government and stop maligning civil servants as an inefficient and money-wasting “faceless bureaucracy.”
