Understanding Civil Service

Here’s an excerpt from our upcoming book entitled We Are Not the Enemy:  Restoring the Honor of US. Civil Service on why so many across our nation do not understand who civil servants are and why they are needed.

The way we see it, today the tax-paying general public is considerably uninformed and misinformed about the following:

 –       The valuable work done by federal employees and why they do it.

 –       Political leaders’ roles and responsibilities in ensuring a smooth and efficiently run federal government—and the fact that federal employees are getting unfairly blamed for the failure of political leaders to do their jobs.

 –       The individual citizen’s very own role and responsibility to be informed and engaged, dutifully participating in the conduct of our government.

Because of this widespread lack of accurate information about the nature and importance of government service, many of our nation’s citizens are unfairly critical of the performance of civil servants.
